Hernia Warning Signs You Should Not Ignore
A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak area in the abdominal wall. It may appear as a swelling in the groin, belly button, abdomen, or previous surgery scar.
Warning signs include increasing pain, vomiting, fever, redness, abdominal distension, inability to pass stool or gas, or a swelling that cannot be pushed back. These symptoms may suggest obstruction or strangulation and need urgent medical attention.
Open or laparoscopic hernia repair may be advised depending on the type, size, symptoms, previous surgery history, and patient fitness.
